How to test a phone speaker
- Move the phone away from your ears and lower its media volume.
- Disconnect wired headphones, Bluetooth earbuds, cars and external speakers.
- Play left, center and right. Note whether audio comes from the phone and whether the channel changes are distinguishable.
- Play each frequency once. Listen for missing sound, crackling or a large change that repeats at the same hardware volume and phone position.
- Confirm any result with familiar speech or music before changing settings or seeking service.
What the results can mean
No sound from any button
Check media volume and the active audio route. Turn off Silent mode where it affects browser audio, disconnect external devices and retry. If other apps are also silent, use the manufacturer's sound troubleshooting steps.
Left and right sound the same
This can be normal on a phone with one effective output, when Mono Audio is enabled, or when the browser or operating system mixes channels. It does not by itself establish a broken speaker.
One tone buzzes or crackles

Why this cannot diagnose a speaker
Your phone's model, case, orientation, audio processing and current volume all affect what you hear. Your room and hearing matter too. The browser cannot measure acoustic output without microphone access, and this page deliberately does not request it.
